Is that left-wing politics?

August 7, 2023

Yolanda Diaz launched the left-wing movement SUMAR in Spain and, together with the social-democratic PSOE, achieved a result in the July 23 elections that would allow the left to take over the government if they formed an alliance with the more or less separatist movements in the corresponding autonomous regions of Spain.

In order to make such an alliance possible, she has now offered that all languages spoken in Spain should be allowed in the Spanish parliament.

What does this mean for working Spaniards, for whom the Spanish left feels responsible?

First, there are the working Spaniards whose mother tongue is Spanish. They are in the majority both in the autonomous regions with regional language and in all other regions anyway. They will no longer fully understand what is spoken in Parliament. Of course, there will be translators. (Are these the targeted jobs that will require even more tax money?) But constant translations do not make politics more understandable. Just imagine, in the English parliament, English, Welsh, Urdu and other dialects are spoken in a jumbled way.

The average working family today needs 2 breadwinners, sometimes with more than one job for each father or mother, to make ends meet. How much time is there to really understand a political parliament, where everyone also speaks differently?

If you think that is democracy, look at India's democracy, for example. There, there are free elections. But anyone who has ever lived there understands that this is a pure facade.

The elite speaks English, the overwhelming majority of Indians do not, or hardly at all. There are over 100 different languages. What will the majority of these ethnic groups vote for? What will their respective leaders, their media tell them? What do they really know and believe about the conflict in Kashmir with Pakistan, in Tibet with China, which could bring them nuclear war.

And here we are with the minorities with regional languages in Spain. If they don't speak perfect Spanish, and they don't and do worse in school, what will they understand about politics in Spain? What the regional politicians and media will tell them in their regional language?

The majority of Spaniards - those who have to work - cannot afford to send their children to private schools, as the Spanish elites do. What opportunities will these majorities in the autonomies with regional language have to really participate in the political process?

But let's assume that they speak the world language Spanish perfectly and read a Latin American newspaper. They would learn today that only Spain and essentially NATO are supplying weapons to Ukraine, while the overwhelming rest of the world, especially Latin America, is in favor of negotiations. Would these readers think that the money saved could be invested in education instead of in the death of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian and Russian soldiers? But no! That would be criticism of the left-wing, social-democratic policy of Mr. Sanchez! And enlightenment about the dangers of a world war, which the social democrats have been partly responsible not for the first time in history.

he huge demonstrations for Catalan independence in recent years are another example of the result of this leftist policy. Indoctrination in schools led young people in particular to take to the streets. For a selfish, nationalistic politics, a politics that is right-wing even if it dresses left-wing.

As a result, this left again wants to pact with the very separatists whose goals it supposedly does not support.

This even goes so far that they are now making contact with Puigdemont again. Not only is he an important leader of the Catalan separatists, he is politically exactly where the conservatives are in the UK. One wonders why the left then does not immediately form a coalition with the PP, which pursues the same neoliberal policies as Puigdemont on all economic issues. With the PP, it would save itself the separatism and, by preventing linguistic separation, at least help working Spaniards better understand what it's all about.

Is this all political calculation on the part of the left or just tactical confusion and aberration in the game for power and posts?

Here you'll find the translation

Languages in Spain
Spanish, Basque, Catalan, Mallorquin, Valenciano etc.

The strategy of recatalanization

1980 the Spanish journal "El Periodico" published a secret document about the strategy of the Catalan government. It shows in a frightening way the actual spiritual world of the separatist leaders.

Now it is available in english translation.

Pancatalanism
the separatist's imperial claim

The Catalan government exports the conflict into communities with Catalan population, supporting all efforts of the separatists including financial means to destroy Spain.
An important tool is the establishment of a language dictatorship that is not afraid to use the same means as Franco.

Separatist indoctrination

In 2017, the teachers' union AMES published a study on school textbooks, as they appeared in Spain and in Catalonia on the same topic. In this study the indoctrination becomes clear, as it describes how Separatists operate. It is now translated into English
